My favorite citizen-group name came when some Seattlites unsuccesfully opposed the public funding of the Mariners' new baseball stadium. They named themselves Citizens for More Important Things.

I always thought it would have been great if, even after the stadium was built and their cause was over, they had kept rallying under the cause of More Important Things.

We need More Important Things! Tax incentives for More Important Things!

'Are you the "United We Stand" group?'

'Fuck off! We're the "United We March" group!'

'Whatever happened to the "Popular Marching" group?'

'He's over there.'

"I thought *we* were the Popular Marching group ..."

Heh. Great scene, and a funny article.

There's a group here in Southern Oregon that's called the Jackson County Citizens League. I've always wondered why everybody isn't a member. Of course, this is also the place that back in the 1930s was home to the Good Government Congress, a euphemistically named organization whose leaders were involved in ballot theft and the shooting death of a police officer.
