I especially liked the subliminal shadow of the beast that flashes briefly at the Royal Ballet performance. Genius.

i don't understand this "flash movie parody" thing. i mean the drawings and animation look good, so maybe put this talent towards an original idea. there is way too much of this crap on the internet!

Great point, scout. I hadn't really thought about it before, but most flash movies I've seen have been parodies of some sort. Maybe it's the surest way of guaranteeing viewership of the work, but some originality would be refreshing. Come to think of it, it could be that there is a ton of original content out there, but the stuff that gets the attention happens to be referential to movies, tv, or other pop culture, since this medium is still pretty new.

There's tons of non-parodic stuff out there. One good place to check is the "shorts" section of Cartoon Network's Web Premier Toons. The best one there, in my humble opinion, is Dave Cooper's bird bug goat (1MB Flash file)--and the animator of that piece, Steve Whitehouse, has some great original work. Roque Ballesteros's Joe Paradise is one of the better online cartoon series, and David Fremont's Glue doesn't suck.

And, if I may plug my own friends' work, Sub:Division (3MB Flash file) kicks ass.
