Somewhere on the internet, someone thinks that not only can your team trade for Stanton, but it won’t be that hard.

Giancarlo (a.k.a. "Mike") Stanton is one of the most exciting young baseball players in the game today. Known primarily as a power hitter with potential Hall of Fame talent, he has hit some legendary home runs, including one he hit as a minor leaguer that reportedly traveled 500+ ft on its way out of Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium and another that broke the scoreboard at Marlins Park and, at an off-bat speed 122.4 mph, was the hardest hit home run ever recorded by the ESPN Hit Tracker. Tampa Bay Rays pitcher David Price likened Stanton to a video game "create a player." But recently, when the Miami Marlins dumped five of his teammates in a blockbuster, cost-cutting trade with the Blue Jays (effectively removing them from contention for the near future), Stanton expressed his dissatisfaction publicly, opening up rumors that he might be next to be traded. Internet baseball fans responded by proposing their own hypothetical (and often wildly optimistic) trade ideas, which Ben Lindbergh of Baseball Prospectus kindly compiled into one list: Stanton trade packages proposed by fans of every team on the internet this offseason.

My personal favorite: the admission by a White Sox fan that "the White Sox could say to Miami, 'Pick any 8 players from the organization other than Chris Sale' and Miami would pass."

As a Nats fan, I'm fine with trading Morse, Moore, and Espinosa away, but I confess that I'm intrigued by this "high prospect". Does he have some extra to share?

I hope the Rangers make a move for Stanton. The Rangers have a lot of blue chip prospect pieces to put in play for Stanton, and he would be a great replacement for Hamilton's lost power. All that ability at 24 years old? It's worth the pinch of giving up our two 3 prospects plus a couple of starters. The problem for the Rangers is that if they give up their prospects, they have little left to trade for the much needed top of the rotation pitching.

I'm surprised nobody proposed just giving the Marlins ownership an enormous (or even moderately-sized) pile of money.

Yet another day where I have to say to myself "WHY THE FUCK AM I A METS FAN". 6 years ago The Mets coulda been players for this guy. Now they couldn't even pay Mike Piazza to come back.

I love the ones that include players that no longer play for the team, and I love the ones that include future draft picks.

Basically if you want your team to trade for Stanton look at what the Blue Jays just paid for Dickey and double it, and you might be in the ball park.

That ESPN hit tracker is truly excellent. And it's appropriate the hardest hit HR came off of Jamie Moyer, who gave up more HRs than any major leaguer. Moyer was released a week later - but not before he gave up another 4 dingers in 5 innings.

I kinda think we've seen the last of ol' Jamie on the mound.

I think I'd still take the old fart as the Phillies fifth starter over Kyle Kendrick. Just put all of the infielders and outfielders at the warning track and have them build a pyramid to catch whatever they can.
