I really love Aaron Paul's reaction from this footage. It's a very visceral, emotionally intense moment for him on many levels. Plus, I have to imagine at some point he starts considering that his barely started career has likely peaked.

Or he could look at the careers of his castmates, many of whom had brilliant roles when younger. Bryant Cranston was a regular on Seinfeld (as well as having a pretty successful show of his own), Bob Odenkirk obviously had Mr. Show, Giancarlo Esposito was one of the main characters in Do the Right Thing, Jonathan Banks was in Airplane, 48 Hours, and Beverly Hills Cop, etc.

I mean, I love Breaking Bad as much as anyone, but those actors demonstrate that every good actor has many peaks.

Unlikely. He's being positioned by studios as a big-budget lead starting next year. Co-starring with Christian Bale in the next Ridley Scott movie, playing the lead role in a Nick Hornby adaptation and Need for Speed. Even if all of those movies bomb (can't imagine Need for Speed making more than a modest profit), the business is a slow one, and enough bigwigs seem to have faith in him to give him starring roles through, oh, at least mid-2016. Expect billboards with Aaron Paul's face on them for the foreseeable future.

If I could edit posts, I'd slot this into the last place at Ununoctium. So good.

Also, was I the only one who had a minor crisis when hearing from a non-BB-watching friend "that actor from that street racing movie died in a car crash" and getting it confused for Need For Speed?

I had the same reaction. I could see him play Paul Walker's hot-headed lost brother in a FaF sequel, though.

This is probably the best idea anyone has ever had. I'm a little sad now that I don't know for sure that this will happen.

Might be more necessary/likely then you would think, all told..

The NFS movie trailer is aggressively earnest. Not really sure that's the way to go.

Just wanted to point out that Bryan Cranston, Anna Gunn, and Bob Odenkirk were all on Seinfeld (pictured), as well as Jessica Hecht (Gretchen Schwartz) and Larry Hankin (junkyard owner Old Joe).

Many peaks indeed!

Aw man, I finally just finished watching Breaking Bad on Netflix. My only main gripe is that (SPOILERS assumed here, right?) we get like 8 seconds of Marie between Hank dying and the end of the series. It was kind of jarring to see her have a sanguine conversation with Skyler over the phone when the show doesn't really give us any of her emotional trajectory there; I had really grown to care about the Marie character and I loved watching Betsy Brandt's scenes.

"Like Satan's windshield wiper" made me laugh. There've been photos of the final script (the last couple pages, I believe) posted around since the show ended. You can easily google the pilot script, and I've read it (it's a really fascinating read), but I'd love to read the finale too, or maybe I'll just watch them read it.

To be fair, though, if there's anything watching Seinfeld reruns has taught me, it's that literally everyone who was alive in the 90s was on Seinfeld.

Reminds me of going to Broadway plays with my parents when I was a kid. You flip through Playbill and every single actor in the production mentions an appearance on Law & Order.

My girlfriend was on an episode of Criminal Minds. She's an arts administrator who lives in Omaha. It's pretty much impossible not to be on a cop show nowadays.

I was never on a cop show, somehow. But I'm young.

That webpage was awesome (Mariska Hargitay - on both Seinfeld and a Law & Order - brilliant!), but I can't believe they missed Patrick Warburton. That's right, one man was David Putty, The Tick, and Joe Swanson on Family Guy.

Maybe everybody else but me already knew that, I dunno.

I can't help but feel that a better ending would be a slow dissolve from the compound (everybody dead but Jesse + Walt) to this footage of these two reading through the final moments for the very first time. It appeals to my inner Brechtian.

but they'd still have to play Baby Blue

No you don't get to see Marie's emotional trajectory she had developed over the course of the series, you know why, cause Walt had to be a fuckin' bigshot, that's why.

I thought the ending was pretty good but the 3rd to last was best. I was hoping the ending was going to be just complete bleakness for Walt. Walt's redemption shot goes bad, he gets Skyler killed because of pride. And it's a decision moment on his part, but he can't give up his twisted pride to save her. Somewhere in the chaos Jesse gets free, Todd dies, but the other Nazis and Lydia come out the victors overall. (The other Nazis aren't too too upset about Todd, one of them says to Lydia like, "Hey, I mean considering we're goddamn neo-Nazis and all, but that kid, he was a sick fuck.") Flynn beats the shit out of Walt, comes close to shooting him but decides he doesn't want death on his hands. After, still, Walt is throwing money at Flynn, but he disdainfully takes just one bundle to get him & Holly through HS graduation and leaves. He cannot reach Saul, cannot reach Jesse. Gets back to cancer cabin, sits around, has cancer, racked by pain, once a month sees the vacuum cleaner guy for 30 minutes. One time Walt mentions "after," and guy promises Walt a decent burial, Walt wants to talk about getting the money to Flynn, guy only says he keeps his promises and he promises a decent burial if he finds Walt dead in that cabin. Walt is after all, free to take his money and walk out, or burn it, mail it around the world. Oh, BTW, he could not hook up the Fentanyl lollies anymore, here's some Vicodins the best he could do. Walt is too cowardly to kill himself, and by the time he finds the resolve and desperation from pain he is incapable. Vacuum guy drives up, steady camera, walks into the cabin, walks out, grabs a shovel, POV toolshot, dig...

Sure, everything went right for Walt in the finale (as much as was possible by that point) - but it wasn't inconsistent with what had gone before. From the beginning, WW was a clutch player. Consider Season 4, where he was pretty ineffectual vs. Gus until everything fell into place just so, and he could make his move.
