RIP Nick Cordero

He was a Broadway actor who went through extreme complications of coronavirus before finally dying today. "Since being diagnosed with what was thought to be pneumonia in late March, the Canadian actor spent weeks in intensive care at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, had his right leg amputated, lost more than 60 pounds and was hoping to receive a double-lung transplant."
His wife has been very frequently updating about this--news about him was showing up in my newsfeeds every few days--and well, that poor guy. I never heard of him before this, but good god, was he put through the wringer.

My social media feeds are absolutely packed with heartbroken posts from his friends and colleagues. I wasn’t lucky enough to have worked with him myself, but from what I’m seeing, he was deeply deeply beloved.

I was so hoping he'd pull through.

Heard about it on the Scrubs Podcast. Zach and Donald sounded heartbroken. He leaves a Partner and a 1 year old.

I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing him a few years ago when Bronx Tale came out on Broadway. He was a delight to work with. Gutted to have this ending after following the many ups and downs over the last three months. Only 41. So sad for his wife and baby. Fuck covid.

I am relieved to know that this man's suffering is done. He did not deserve a moment of it.

As with mollymayhem above, I wasn’t close to Nick and have been following his situation through many many mutual friends (although I don’t think he and I ever met). We are from the same small city, though, and I first was alerted to his plight by the only high school teacher of mine I am still in touch with, my drama teacher, who was Nick’s a decade later.
Safe home, Nick.

Have been following this for months now, hoping and praying for a happy ending. This is unbearably sad.
