A PC with a sprayed-on case

A PC with a sprayed-on case Yes you read that right, this PC has no aluminium case but a spray-foamed one instead. Weird? Gross? Ugly? Certainly all those at once, but it seems rather as an improvement over cookie-cutter lifeless PC clone cases.
With a chisel, blow torch, and dremel, of course. Be sure to use a static-proof chisel and dremel, though.

reproduction is impossible and orders are thus futile
I think this says it all. Sounds much the same as ordering from Gateway.

They were being lazy! With a dremel, some paint and a little imagination, you can do some cool styling with spray foam. Let the stuff dry first -- in wet form it sticks to everything and never comes off.

See, some people just see a yeast infection, but the truly gifted see practical applications.
I'll bet he sculpts the Devil's Tower non-stop out of that stuff when not adobe-ing up his `puter.

I've been waiting for one of those "electronic brains" they were talking about back in the '50's. I'm a bit disappointed that they decided to develop the brain tumor first.

So... what is this, Slashfilter? Metaslash? Metadot?
*yawn*
BTW, if you actually -read- the page, it says over and over again that upgrades are impossible. It also says that if you use hardware that could get warm, it will get warm and it -will- overheat. There are some interesting ideas on how to build a practical foam case over at this /. thread.

I think it looks more like the rice cakes do, now that a little time has passed since you typed that.

Gross, AND ugly, plus that foam breaks down over time.
SpecialK: Not everybody here reads Slashdot. It's been brought up so many times before it's no longer worth pointing it out. Get over it.

The whole PC mod phenomenon is what PC owners resort to because their computers don't look as cool as Macs do.

Laz-e-boy: Of course, there are also those of us who could care less what their cases look like because they'd rather not have to look at them at all, and so don't end up paying for overblown design.
But that's just my little opinion.

What strikes me as humorous is that these are the same guys who bitch that Macs "cost too much" - and they're building $400+ cases to contain their PC trash. To each his own I guess. I don't give a rats ass that my Mac "looks cool" but it's still 1000 times easier to open and upgrade than even the most expensively modded PC case...

You just need a little bit of imagination when you're building your box, as opposed to the cookiecutter desk lamps that Apple offers these days. :)
Yes! You can take your rectangular case and add siding and a roof, or an AIDS quilt, or glue all kinds of 1997 memorablia to it since it's got a 200Mhz processor and then sell it on ebay 30 years later and then make your motto "think too much," rivaling "think different," and it's time for me to go now and watch Bernie Mac.
