Discussing Poets and Their Poetry

Professors Seamus Perry and Mark Ford have an occasional series in the London Review of Books podcast where they go through the life and work of a single poet. So far they’ve discussed W. H. Auden, Elizabeth Bishop, Thomas Hardy, A. E. Housman, Philip Larkin, Stevie Smith, and Wallace Stevens. In the latest episode they are joined by Joanna Biggs for a discussion of Sylvia Plath.
SO excited for these and browsing the associated essays and reviews--thank you! I'm deciding here and now that the Elizabeth Bishop episode will be my first.

Thanks for this! Sorry I can't add something substantive, but the Auden and Hardy are things that I specifically want, so you have managed to hit at least two of my buttons dead center. I am sure I will end up listening to them all, so also thanks for expanding my interests!

Wonderful, thanks for posting. I went straight for the Larkin discussion and was delighted to discover that they've included a transcript, which I read instead of listening.

It looks like they have a bunch of other cool stuff, including Alan Bennett's diaries. I can't wait to check them all out!

That’s a very good choice. I thought about recommending it as a first listen. The Stevie Smith episode was the biggest revelation for me, because though I had known some of her poetry since I was a teen, I knew nothing about her life.
kristi: It looks like they have a bunch of other cool stuff
The LRB podcast is delightfully hodgepodgean. It’s like several sporadic podcasts were jammed together into one feed.
