The Guiness Diet Challenge

As a steady diet of Guinness got me through college with no (lasting) ill effects I'd think a week would be a doddle.

Holy crap this is weird.
I actualy had the idea of doing an "all beer diet" and blogging about it yesterday.
I was planning on using cheaper beer, though :P

Yeah, but a cheaper beer wouldn't be a "meal in a glass". If you're saving money on food you might as well at least shell out for nice substantial beer.

Actually it's well established that a person can live a healthy long life on nothing but (raw) milk. There are many such case histories, there even used to be "milk clinics", before the era of pasteurization destroyed most of its vitality. So really this experiment is flawed since it is the milk not the guiness that is keeping him going (assuming he's clever enough to drink raw milk, which BTW has lots of vitamin C so he could skip the suppliments).

" it is the milk not the guiness that is keeping him going" stbalbach you are a blasphemer and a swine! I would urinate on you but you are not worthy of briefly used Guiness!

I don't see why Guiness as a calorie source couldn't also keep you alive assuming you took enough suppliments.
The problem is sticking with it.

I don't think that this diet is terribly compatible with minor things like holding a job or being responsible for the welfare of offspring.

I think the problem would be that to get enough calories to live on (3147 for me) at 190 per can, you have to drink almost 16 cans a day. Maybe I'm a lightweight drinker but I'd be pretty messed up after that many beers, even spaced out over a sixteen hour day.

once upon a couple of years ago i did this.
my needatoothpickafterwards beer of choice was coopers, and my diet consisted entirely of that, water, and stimulants.
i lost eight kilos that week, but unfortunately was too boozy to even contemplate writing up methodology, results or anecdotes.
bravo. i applaud you, large bedrunkened englisher.

Ahh, coopers... Brewed in the bottle and featuring so much yeast precipitate that when poured it looks like a glass of mud. Truly the antipodean 'meal in a glass' and I can't get enough of it...
