What would Simpsons characters look like in Real Life? Something like this.

And then they all went home and watched Itchy and Scratchy blow each other to bits.

Skip has another Homer Groening film that is pretty great, but he doesn't have it up on the Internet Archive. Maybe it's not public domain?

I love that the image fore the Geoduck is a duck, because those things are definitely not ducks. They also only seem to be something you hear about if you grew up in the Pacific Northwest.

Homer Groening was an industrial filmmaker. He made several films for Jantzen, Johnson Outboard Motors, Alaska Airlines and for Aims Media. I was contacted by a schoolmate of Lisa Groening's who said that Homer would come to their elementary school with a projector and show films to the kids every month. What a great dad!

Young Matt sounds oddly like Milhouse.

Why did you black out the participants' names with [SPOILER], when you gave it away in the title of the post?

Pretty interesting subject of the post, but the movie is so damn boring. I felt very conflicted watching it. On one hand I was thinking, "Oh wow, cool, it's like the real Simpsons!" and on the other I was about to fall asleep.

ericbop, my use of [SPOILER] was part in jest, part as manipulative teaser, and the title is only semi-revealing since it referred to the Simpsons and not the Groenings. Did I just spill the last of the overthought beans? D'OH!

Pretty high production values for home vid of that era. Interesting.
A friend of mine has a film taken on a vacation island, shot by her friend's dad (who happened to be Joel Sedelmaier.
It was shot around the same time E.T. came out, and so it's called I.T. -- and it's just my friend and her brother running around the island, being chased by a giant free-moving inner tube taller than they were.
And the production values? Shockingly high!

That Psychedelic Schoolhouse Rock is interesting. I like the part around two minutes in where the U.S. colors wrap into a giant horn of plenty spewing cars, burgers, TVs, hot dogs, and baseballs.
