South Scrimshaw, Part One (free gog.com) is a beautifully hand drawn visual novel/documentary about a whale calf in an alien ocean three million light years away. PCgamer. Youtube walkthrough.
One of my daughters recommended this to me - speculative evolution seems to be a bit of a thing in their peer group and they all really liked this.
It's very good and, on steam at least, absolutely free.
