The Man Who TRULY Overthinks His Plates of Beans

The Baked Bean Museum of Excellence was created by a Welshman who has legally changed his name to Captain Beany from Planet Beanus. That I know of, he is not a Mefite. He does, however, look like Bono after eating too many carrots. Just sayin'.
Do NOT scroll down on the "Captain Beany" link.
"Old man naked in a tub of beans" is NSFAnybody.

I would have liked this a lot better if it wasn't some contrived riff off of a marginally humorous comment that has been forced into an injoke. But because it is, it makes me want to retch.

Actually, I was going to post him a long time ago anyhow. So if it makes you feel better then just pretend I did that, and that I didn't allow myself to weakly mention a marginally humorous comment that has been forced into an injoke. Better?

Jim Chohanik thought about beans a lot. But he didn't post any funny pictures on his web site, which he easily could have.

Actually, the old-orange-guy-nude-in bean-tub shot has pretty much assured that I will never be hungry again.

I feel so left out because I was gone the week of the bean joke. It's gotten me so down that I can't overthink my way out of a paper bag any more. MeFi, what happened to us? We used to be so close. I don't know you any more. What the hell is with this post?

I knew Beany. And Captain, you're no Beany.
And don't feel bad, miss lynnster, you should be proud of your ability to annoy dios with a totally non-political post.

I did voice-overs for Beano for PBS cooking shows in the '90s.
(Before the Food Network, lots of public stations had a block of cooking shows that aired on Saturday afternoons.)
It paid lots of bills.
So I love anything connected with beans.
Great find, miss l!

I work with a fellow who could be the Captain’s plainclothes Clark Kent counterpart… Here is the Captain demonstrating his ‘Farta Trappa’ flatulence odour-removal system (Youtube).

I went to a local grocery store, and for 89 cents, I purchased one can of S & W® brand Black Beans (Frijoles Negros), wrapped them up, attached a note which read, "The game is on!", and promptly mailed them to Gary.
Months ago, when I first ran across it, this fine site was nearly the anchor content for my very first front page post here on Mefi. I never posted it because I thought that a post about "The amazing (but true!) journey of a can of S & W® brand black beans as they make their way across this great land of ours, and to other nations!" would die a quick and snarky death.
How was I to know that beans would weasel their way into the Mefi zeitgeist...?

Oh. Just ... that. Never mind.
