Very Legit will take any URL & make it look dodgy as hell. posted by scalefree (31 comments total) 27 users marked this as a favorite

Word of caution: you may not want to try this at work, it could trigger your company's web security filters.

Ooh, a new shadyurl.com

It also appears to break the mefi front page on my phone.

Mod note: Added a couple of zero width spaces in the urls; let me know if this doesn't fix the problem with the front page rendering on mobile.

Had some fun. Sent my buddy the link to the web agency he works for, saying "I thought you said you worked for someone LEGIT!" or something like that.

Whoops, I meant to say, ooh, a new http://ctf.verylegit.link/732moneygram.json.docm

Front page still totally broken on mobile classic - half of each post is off the right hand edge of the screen, but no scroll or zoom out is possible!

Mod note: Okay, scratch the spaces. I've put the urls under the fold, so the front page should be okay now.

.....Uh, I can assume what I'm supposed to be seeing, but I click on the links in the post, and the pages don't look any different. Do I need to turn off my adblocker or something?

Ooh, a new shadyurl.com

that apparently handles odd characters in URLs rather better than shadyurl.com does.

I just tried to share this on Facebook, but the link was automatically removed and I got this warning:

This Post Can't Be Edited
Posts that look like spam according to our Community Guidelines are blocked on Facebook and can't be edited.

The Facebook link debugger also gives this message:

Warning: This Message Contains Blocked Content
Your message couldn't be sent because it includes content that other people on Facebook have reported as abusive.

So apparently it's too good.

I am concerned that if I accidentally mistype anything in the URL redirect that I will find something less so...

Given enough tries, eventually some browser vulnerability will be inadvertently triggered.

I just tried to share this on Facebook, but the link was automatically removed and I got this warning:

At one point I posted something to facebook where I talked about a hypothetical "malware.com" and FB said "You totally can't post that! What do you think you're doing anyway?!?". And it's just very funny to me that there could actually be a site malware.com that serves malware. It would be like going downtown and seeing a building with a big sign

Anyway I was able to replace it with malwar3.com and that was apparently AOK...?

AFABulous: I want to send these to my mom to test whether or not she’s been listening to my rants about not blindly clicking shit.

That sounds like it will backfire. "I clicked on the links and nothing bad happened. So what's your point?"
