Patatap!

Patatap might be the most fun you can have mashing a keyboard.
Oh man. I thought I had it all figured out and then I touched the bottom right hand corner and everything changed forever.

"I bet this would be great if I had a kid" is something I thought that many actual parents would be able to use as proof that I might regret actually having them.

I usually cry "whoopsadaisy!" But that's just me.

This could be the engine that drives the projector at rock shows.

Works great on a phone or tablet, too.

I'm really enjoying seeing what words I can sorta jam on, even if they look like a satanic recipe when listed out.

I'm trying to imagine what it would be like to be able to run this on one of the screens of my computer while I'm doing other things, and piping all of my typing to it in parallel. What would writing an email sound like? Writing code? Ranting on facebook? would different activities give me different "sountracks" that I'd be able to tell apart?

I was just wondering the same thing! Only don't pipe your keyboard to it when entering a password....

I wish this had something to sync the sample trigger timing to a beat. That usually has the magic effect of making everything sound great. (See also: PaRappa, Rez, etc.)

On a touch-screen, the bottom right corner does the same thing the spacebar does on the keyboard version.
> Works great on a phone or tablet, too.
Thanks for pointing this out! I really like the tablet/phone version much better; it's a lot more responsive. And it gave me the urge, for the very first time, to smoosh my face against my iPad.
Thank goodness for office doors.

This works a lot better on Chrome than Firefox, for anyone out there that's frustrated. Just threw together this little mix: https://soundcloud.com/senorroboto/patatap-mix-1

Space, in case you haven't figured it out, changes colors and tones. Whee! This is a great way to wait for a compile to finish.

No idea why, but won't even load on Firefox for me. On Chrome, grand fun. I'm typing phrases from the proposal my team is working on to see if I can tell good writing from turgid jargon just by the way it sounds. Results mixed so far. Science is seldom cut and dried.

ZeFrank did something similar - which I can confirm was absolutely perfect when my son was very young and could only keyboard mash. Love stuff like this.

"patap" itself makes for a nice beat-word in some of these. Wonder if that's where the name comes from.
