National Geographic has announced the winners of its 2017 Nature Photographer Of The Year Contest. They have also chosen their fifty-seven Best Photos Of 2017.
Ironically, that title quote (Ansel Adams) was by a photographer that for the most part, had a significant number of self-imposed rules.
One thing I noticed was the relative high number of aerial photographs.
Another thing I'd be curious to see (which I never will) is the original RAW files these were derived from. How much post-processing, how close to the original composition are these (ie: how much cropping was done).
But yeah, magnificent photographs in this bunch (as expected, but still impressive).

Oh neat, I've met Lynn Johnson who took two of the shots in the second link: the girl at the stove with the cat on her neck and the young transgender man with his skateboard. She was the guest teacher in class one day as she's an old friend of the instructor. She's in her sixties, about five feet tall and pretty much the most bad-ass person you'll ever meet.

So HDR cranked to 11 is now OK?
