SLYT: Library Takeout A librarian at Duke University created a video to explain how to get materials safely and friends, it slaps!
From the description:
Although our stacks will be closed for the Fall 2020 semester for safety purposes, you can still get books and other materials by using our Library Takeout Service. Check out the video (and get down with your masked self) to find out more. UPDATE: Our "Library Takeout" song is now available on Spotify and Apple Music, so you never have to get it out of your head! Make it your new ringtone, jam in your car, and keep on checking out books.

Ah, there's something of a history in The Chronicle.

Wow, I should get in touch. It's the same steps at our library. Something like this would be very helpful.

It's Creative Commons, so you can use the song and video. You probably just need to edit in some drawings of your library to replace the Duke ones.

I don't say this often (i.e. this is an entirely novel sentence for me, never before uttered by these lips nor typed by these digits), but today?
Today, I am proud to be a Duke alum.

I definitely grinned at the accurate key and midi roll animations.
Our city library (and their in-house puppetry troupe) had fun making a video about their checkout policy during COVID. (I believe jessamyn linked it in one of her newsletters a while back...)

I made one for my work at a public library that was basically a hand puppet singing to the tune of “downtown” by petulant Clark except it was “mask on” and I feel at one with my people.

I meant “Petula” but Petulant Clark is my new library name.

I love this!
Is there a sequel though? It’s the same procedure to pick up at my local library but blasted if I can figure out how to bring my book back. The drop box has a schedule that I can’t figure out....the first time, I didn’t even think to wonder if a drop box would have a schedule.... cuz it’s for ummmm dropping. So that was a fail, and now that I know there is a schedule, I can’t remember it... also evidently it closes if it fills up when it’s open, so I expect that will be my next fail. I do believe a catchy animation could help with all this!

Yeah, the "drop box schedule" threw me off too where I live. Apparently you literally can't put anything into the box now unless it's during schedule time. Which is so weird.

2nd-ing digging the incorporation of the midi-roll notes into the hand-drawn graphics.
I feel my local library is cutting edge now because we no longer have to schedule our pickups.

@ipsative well, you asked for it. https://youtu.be/YrV6X5cBkpw
We never used (I'd have had to do another version anyway. The puppet appears to become steadily more refreshed with each passing verse.)
