For 7 years, Cercle has been livestreaming DJs and other musicians playing sets from impressive locations around the world: Icelandic Wilderness (Ólafur Arnalds), Hot air balloon above Cappadocia (Ben Böhmer), Guatape Colombia (Above and Beyond), Lapland (Sofiane Pamart) , The Eiffel Tower (Nina Kraviz), Brighton i360 (Fatboy Slim) or Bali (Lee Burridge)... posted by rongorongo (13 comments total) 23 users marked this as a favorite

My two recent favorites (along with the Arnalds set) are Adriatique at Luxor in Egypt (more for the great atmosphere), and Hania Rani at Invalides in Paris (for the great performance). I really like the way they explore the terrain around the concert and they take advantage of drone cameras to show off more than you could see if you were there in person. It's not traditional preservation work, but this is some of the best public footage for many of these landscapes and historical environments. Cercle is my go to when I want to look at some beautiful terrain and I think I'll watch one today as I could use it.

Earlier this month they started posting longform interview content that looked like some sort of convention event. Anyone have more information on that?

The Microsoft marketing department did a few of these too, likely inspired by this channel or channels like it. I keep going back to Nora En Pure at Lake Arnen Gstaad in Switzerland.

Martin Stimming live at Phare de Cordouan is fantastic, and he has a session at the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie that is just as good.

Also Teho live from Glacier 3000, it’s not long but the drops are unbelievable.

I’m not sure about that - but a note to point out that all the concerts have interviews at the end. There are also some “making of” videos that highlight the considerable effort going on behind the scenes.

I've loved these since the COVID pandemic, since these sets became a way to travel the world when stuck at home. Thanks for the post!

These have become my go-to working music, since at least the ones I've listened to thus far are almost entirely instrumental (no vocals) and don't distract me. It's also really nice to have the beautiful videos on a side monitor while working.

The one which got me originally hooked was this one with FKJ at a Bolivian salt flat. I didn't know him before, but really enjoy his music now.

DJ sets and impressive locations are a Venn diagram that I want to be in the middle of. These are great, thanks so much for sharing.

The Fatboy Slim set in Brighton has been our go-to cleaning music in the Grumblemf household for a few years now. Great stuff. Also the Lane 8 set on a lake somewhere is great to work to. Long time fan of this channel.

My favorite Cercle concert by far is HVOB at the Copa del Sol -- and that's out of such a huge collection. For me, it's the perfect combination of environment and music.

That was amazing! There is also an interview with the band and with the creator of the Copa at the end. More about the site. I had a feeling that sunset within that structure was going to be really interesting - so a word out to the film-makers and musicians for timing the concert to end right at the moment the sun dipped below the horizon. (And also for managing to record music anywhere so windy)
