Bollywood is remaking Fight Club. It seems there wasn't enough dancing and singing. Trailers here [Windows media]. No mention of soap.

The first rule of Bollywood Fight Club is you do not use the plot from the original Fight Club.

We are the all-dancing, all-singing crap of the world.

It doesn't really sound like a remake from the description. If it is, it's a really, really, really loose interpretation of the original.

true to the original or not, I wanna see it in a double bill with that turkish rambo flick

I think they really enhanced the author's vision with their interpretation the theme song from the book, You Gotta Go Fight Club. Chuck Palahniuk would do well to incorporate some of these changes in an updated version of the book.

They've made it into some kind of dumb feelgood gang movie. All Bollywood films have to be about a bunch of great friends and the crazy fun they have. What a bunch of shit. Bollywood is even worse than Hollywood, I mean, they outdo Hollywood at making garbage. If I was a Hollywood film guy I would hang my head in shame, then hang myself because I had failed. Bollywood shouldn't even be celebrated for its kitchness, it's puke.

Well what do you know, it's got an IMDB entry.

Are these dudes planning on pay David Fincher, Jim Uhls, or any of the other dozens of companies that probably own various rights to the original? Hell, are they going to pay Godsmack for using their song in the trailer?

Hmm, it doesn't say if the Dust Brothers are doing the soundtrack.

that looks like cack.
4 people fighting others to profess their right to dance?
at least have them beat up different castes...

The first rule of Bollywood Club is that you don't talk about whether the remakes make sense. You all don't want a bloody nose or a headache, do you?

I love Bollywood. They're so ridiculous and over-the-top and crazy! This movie is going to rock, in that so-horrible-it's-awesome way.

Is this an actual remake or an original film with the same title? I can see them doing the latter so as to capitalize on the success of David Fincher's Fight Club. That aside, it looks awful. Damn I hate Bollywood.

What the fuck was the point of that satement? You think because they are foreigners they have no sense of intellectual property? STFU.

I personally can't wait to see this. Bollywood rules. you have't lived until you have seen a somewhat serious historical epic, like The Legend of Bhagat Singh which gets interrupted by singing and dancing.

i'm having a hard time getting my head around this, (even more so after watching the music videos...) Don't get me wrong, i've enjoyed Bollywood movies in the past, but Fight Club? It just doesn't seem right.

What's next, a happy musical adaptation of Seven?

Cause that could be kinda awesome.

Well they've already released the Bollywood Oldboy, from the guy that made Bollywood Reservoir Dogs and Bollywood U-Turn, so that someone would make Bollywood Fight Club doesn't sound like too much of a stretch.

it feels kind of weird to see *my* precious culture co-opted and cheapened by another country's film industry.

See, its funny because we can't understand them and that means we can make up what they're singing and that's good entertainment.

At least I won't have to be faced with Meatloaf's tits anymore.

Remind me to torrent this when it comes out...

(I also suddenly have this perverse need to see that Bollywood Oldboy as well...)

Oh, come on. Bollywood is good entertainment, and it at least has a spark of life in it. And I agree, it's a bit late in the game to be complaining about ideas/plots/what have you being co-opted and cut-up and messed around with.

Bollywood puts out some horrible schlock and some truly amazingly good works, same as Hollywood, Japan's animation industry, the video game industry, the american music industry, book publishing, or any other entertainment industry.

Each work is different and should be judged on it's own merits. Hating an entire industry (or any group as diverse) is just stupid. If you applied the same philosophy to people, you'd get in a lot of trouble.

That said, I really hate Hollywood.

They list five rules of fight club, and the fifth one is "There are no rules." After they just listed four other, um, rules. This is brilliant.

Now we know where all the great minds in Hollywood have gone.

Hah. We were just in Mumbai and saw posters for this or ads in the paper etc. The trip was filled with cultural dissonance, so this was just one more data point in the mess, and I didn't ever stop to figure out what it was, and how it related to what I knew as Fight Club. Thanks for, sorta, setting it straight!

Article about the film
"If Fight Club has style and glamour there is an underlying imprint of Indian values and emotions as well."
and a really funny if tedious argument on the IMDB page that Rhomboid pointed to.
