"No stars. I've never seen no stars before." I'm watching this movie as soon as my loose cunt modem can suck it through the tubes.

"The Godfather, it takes about three hours to get going". A sterling defence of one's own critically mauled output.

In separate news, Dyer still a cock.

I live in fear on what Love is gonna do the fackin' Sweeny remake...

I have a total OCD obsession to watch every single extra on any DVD I rent but even I had to bail out of the Dyer/Love commentary on the Football Factory as it's just non-stop 'Fack! Fack! Cant! Fack!' cockney nonsense.

And Outlaw is almost certainly Sean Bean AND Bob Hoskins worse film but it's not even close to Love or Dyer's...

I am really really disappointed that the only video worth clicking (Danny gets punched) is not available in the US.

I'm sure the ginger hair story would be a riot if they could get someone to translate it into english.

Danny Fucking Dyer is one of the few people on this planet who earned his middle name of "Fucking". Also Dyer could be changed to "Dire" and Danny changed to "Goddamn".

In other news, apparently nobody else in the UK likes Danny Fucking Dyer. This makes the world a better place overall I feel.

p.s. Danny - if you ever read this whilst googling your name, smoking dope in your underpants one late night whilst wondering how on Earth you ever became famous, I too would love to punch you in the face. I can't say for definite that it will be as hard as Mo Teague did but I'm willing to give it a shot (or three). We can film it too if you'd like. I'd certainly watch it over and over again, as I am sure would your other thousands of admirers.

I can't hear mention of Danny Dyer without hearing Mark Kermode's impression of him in my head. Here's his review of Straightheads which stars Danny Dyer (review starts at 5:43). First impression (of many) starts at 6:20.

I love how Dire steps into the 'Derek' role so naturally, and Love is so commanding in his 'Clive' persona.

I went home last night and watched the DVD with the commentary, and it was great - far better than without the commentary - but I got bored after about half an hour.

Amongst all the shit, two good things about Danny Dyer:

1. He was good in 'Human Traffic'
2. He did the cover of Attitude and did not express any homophobia. In fact, the opposite

That's it.

A critic replies...

It's a bit strong to compare Love to Meadows... even if, as Bradshaw alleges, Love's first and latest film were all right. I've seen neither so can't really judge.. but I've seen his other films and whilst Football Factory is kind of watchable if duff, The Business and Outlaw are facking dire (sorry). However I've seen all of Meadows' films and they are all uniformly excellent. As a commenter suggests I think Love has sent some of his crew round to have a work with Bradshaw

Oh and Dyer has been in a Pinter play, and I think didn't totally embarrass himself according to the critics... though apparently he had never hear of the geezer before he got the part.

I don't know if I would say uniformly, Once upon a Time in the Midlands was a bit weaker and Somers Town didn't feel like the finished article, but yeah, he certainly shits on Love. Going back to Hoskins, its perhaps worth comparing what Love gets out of him in Outlaw with what Meadows achieves with him in 24/7, which , IMHO, is one of the most tenderly drawn characters in British film.

I'll give you that... I tend to forget about Once Upon A Time as it's so untypicle and I don't have it on DVD. Somers Town was a bit spare but the great Geoff Capes joke alone makes up for that (or perhaps that's just me)

Hoskins is brilliant in 24/7 though to my East Midlands ear his Notty accent is a bit wayward. Bruce Jones is another revelation - what a career he had: brilliant in Raining Stones a string of pretty good minor parts, with a highlight of 24/7, then years in Corrie until he ended up a self-parody before career car crash drunken infamy...
