A chance meeting between Kevin Pollak and Jason Calacanis at a poker game gave birth to Kevin Pollak's Chat Show, a weekly, web-based interview program. Episode 29, with guest Weird Al Yankovic, will be streaming live at 8PM ET/5PM PT. While you're waiting, check out previous episodes with guests like Eddie Izzard, Hank Azaria, and John Hamm. Or try your hand at the Larry King Game.

KPCS is top notch entertainment - if you like long format interviews. ALSO, for those of you that don't want to, can't or won't watch the show live - it's available for free on itunes as audio only or video and can also be found on you tube!

I'm not gonna lie - I've been watching this thing since before the first ep (there was a test show) and I LOVE IT.

(Just noticed the you tube link was included in the post. My bad. Was so excited about the post that I skimmed it.)

Oh wow this is really great. I was initially off put by the slow timing, but the inside baseball aspect is really amazing and gets lost in a Charlie Rose, 20 minute interview. The Michael Gladis and Rich Sommer (warning, metafilter curse word: Mad Men) goes really in depth into the audition, callbacks and tribulations that actors playing secondary roles go through. It really seems to come down to dumb luck, I can see why so many of my actor friends get bitter.

Weird Al without glasses is still so wrong. I wish he would wear prop glasses.

Robert Llewellyn's CarPool is also great- He drives around with a random celebrity in the car for 20 minutes. Llewellyn was the character Kryten from red dwarf, and he was one of the announcer types on Junkyard Wars.

Hey! Look! Lurking around on the set is that kid from Freaks and Geeks that I haven't really seen since that show was canceled!

Neat!

That would be Samm Levine.

Damn, Al is some kind of Oprah/Paris/Demi savant!

Stay tuned for Larry King Game. I expect in-thread participation once you know the rules.

Listening to Weird Al sounds great and everything, but who are the other people?

I just noticed that Weird Als sans glasses, sans moustache looks an awful lot like Eric Idle in a silly wig.

ah! okay.

yeah, it is fun to say. i went to CAMP PONKAPOAG. when i moved from boston to seattle, one of the weirder things was getting used to PNW native american names instead of NE native american names. so, instead of ponkapoag, massasoit, pawtucket et al, i encountered had skykomish, snoqualmie, and puyallup.

Wait, this started streaming at 8 ET and it's still going at 9:48 ET? Color me suprised and impressed.

cavalier - the show typically runs AT LEAST two hours. It's been known to go way over that.

I think he looks more like John C. McGinley

Anybody remember how to bypass YouTube's mature content check? You put a 'v' in the URL somewhere, or something..

Thanks for the post, Horace Rumpole. I've got a fever and a sore throat and I've had to stay awake all night editing my novel before a deadline tomorrow and having the Eddie Izzard interview running in the background has helped me stay awake. Of course, now that's done, I'm not finished, and I expect to crash any minute now.

Just use this URL plus the unique ID of the video:
From: http://www.youtube.com/user/kevinpollakschatshow#p/u/2/5ufcRUGqTxg
To: http://www.youtube.com/v/5ufcRUGqTxg

V is for Verified. Pretty strong security.
