“Up to.” This signifies a span of time less than but not exceeding nine hours.

“... and then dies.” And at some point after the mating, the mardo dies.

Well, these two descriptors of their ways also apply to echidnas, herons, and the members of the 1973 Philadelphia Flyers roster. We’ll need more to go on is I guess what I’m saying.

Apparently, the females mate with several males, suggesting that they are the true sexual champions here, but, as usual, the males get all the credit. Typical.
