I got to watch the IgNoble Awards this year, and the ceremony was pretty interesting, although filled with the accretion of in-jokes that you’d expect science and SF fans to create over the years. The scientists told the mild ribbing in good humor, although some seemed a bit bewildered by the whole thing.
Also, according to the Transportation Award winners, it very much does matter which way up you transport your rhino, assuming you are using a helicopter.

Are you kidding? That Biology Prize research is going to have massive popular appeal. EVERYBODY wants to know weird little details about cats.

I love the biology people!! they were like "let's see if someone will give us grant money to stay home and play with our 3 cats"
