They have a page in English apparently which can answer some of the WTF questions you might have.
Nuntii Latini - News in Latin - is a weekly review of world news in Classical Latin, the only international broadcast of its kind in the world, produced by YLE, the Finnish Broadcasting Company.posted by jessamyn at 6:58 PM on January 23, 2005
This link might be better. It's a weekly news program in Lation that's broadcast from a Finnish radio station (and in a STRONG Finnish accent judging from what I just listened to).
On preview... Yeah, what Jessamyn said.

I certainly didn't. Seems like it could be a neat tool for someone trying to learn latin. I'm not, however, so it just falls into the realm of "huh. that's neat".

Perhaps a Monty Python reference by way of Latin? ("I'm not dead yet!")

So ursus - you're saying it's in conveyance?
Perhaps it's a reference to Laoian Latin? Or Laplandian Laoian? Or Finns putting lotion in the basket?

Latin is a language
At least it used to be
First it killed the Romans
Now it's killing me.
I stole that, I know I did, but I have absolutely no memory as to where. (/confession)

More likely IndigoJones is saying that reports of the death of Latin have been greatly exaggerated.

I think it's in the "Jennings and Derbyshire" series of childrens books, by Anthony Buckeridge. Probably other places too. I remember it as: "Latin is a language/As dead as dead can be/It killed the ancient Romans/And now it's killing me."

Ah yes, YLE. I'm a video operator for the annual International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam industry meeting. Just following the discussion between all the broadcasting bigshots makes it worth it: the erudite BBC editor, the pragmatic U.S. Discovery and NGC editors; and last but not least, the crazy Fin from YLE that always goes for the wacky project no-one else wants to invest in and becomes a smash hit a year or two later. He also insists on using the F-word once at least every other sentence (perhaps an implicit personal protest against the status of English as a word language?).
The fact that they have a weekly radio news broadcast in Latin says a lot about the remarkable institute that is YLE.

Full marks to Stopgap! Yes, Python, exactly.
Little surprised at the pettish note of some early comments. "A link without proper description"? Please. Spoon feeding is for babies. I like to be surprised by a posting. If the joke was a little obscure, the site itself was pretty much self explanatory, and the English version easy enough to find if further explanation was needed. Moreover, there are Latin to English translation engines out there. (Those without Latin might want to check out the comments above, some of them not bad at all.)
Also- thank you, goodnewsfortheinsane. I am delighted to hear that YLE is all that you say it is, and if you ever more more to say on the matter, or have suitable links, please post.
