Thanks Josher!

I like the general idea in the video that "metalheads are hiding amongst you, waiting to thrash free". Because it's true. Thrash on, everyone. \m/

Also, that's Red Fang buying milk @ 1:05, which I believe is a call back to this great video.

Ok. Sounds a lot like Crossover-era DRI. Is thrash officially back? Seen Ice T's, erm, take on Suicidal Tendencies' Institutionalized?

great, another video that makes me painfully nostalgic for Portland while I'm still in Portland.

You show those poetry readers what's what, IRON REAGAN.

I wonder which grad program IRON REAGAN are in?

So badass they can fuck up a poetry reading? Kinda odd, like that Lamb of God video where they blow people's minds-- at a toddler's party. Still, solid retro thrash. So retro it's partially shot in a record store.

Oh shit, Mudhoney cameo.

I can't like Portland any more than I already do. I'm not a big fan of IR so I probably woulda never seen this and I really liked it (plus there are people I know in that video, so that's fun). Portland (and Seattle and Olympia) has an amazing underground metal and hardcore scene, meaning death/black/doom stuff and filthy, ugly hardcore.

You absolutely need to watch this video:

This is a pretty great riff. I don't hear much in the way of new metal, but A++, would head-bang again.

As a huge fan of Nuclear Assault, I really don't mind at all that someone else is still doing Nuclear Assault.

Also for people who aren't about this life, a few of these guys were in Municipal Waste who helped resurrect a different kind of thrash last decade.

I was supposed to see these guys last Friday in Winston-Salem (on a bill with Exhumed, Voivod, and Napalm Death), but I had to bow out at the last second. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!! My friends decided to rub it in and let me know how awesome they were.

We need more funny metalheads. I really haven't seen any since Suicidal Tendencies decided to get all serious and shit 25 years ago.

That was only for like one album and an EP, though! Next album mike Muir was rapping about fruit loops and getting so overwhelmed with his desire for slap bass that he had to form a whole new band to contain it all!

NoMich - I saw that same bill Sat. night in Baltimore! It was a really really killer show....one of the funnest shows I've been to in quite some time. but like...... a SIX BAND TOUR PACKAGE!?! The show was $20 day of / $ 17 advance! How is this tour making ANY MONEY??!

Voivod totally blew me away though, and i also really quite liked Exhumed and Ringworm, but like a quarter of the way into Naplam Death my body said to me "YOU CANNOT LISTEN TO ANY MORE METAL RIFFS TONIGHT OR ELSE" so I went to my neighborhood bar and played Bruce Springsteen on the jukebox.

Anyway, this video totally rips. Poor Bronzino really got hurt in that last shot though! And also broke the headstock on his guitar!

Also, this might be a ridiculous question, but what is with the Portland thing? These guys are from Richmond / NJ. Is this video filmed in Portland?

I kicked the (a?) bass player from Infectious Grooves out of the strip club I worked at once.

I saw an interview with some metal band from the NE a few years ago where the interviewee said that all the best American metal came during Republican presidents (because people were pissed). I think that's probably going to be the case again in 2016, and I've also started noticing a lot of really good new metal bands for the first time in a long time...

Aside from any far-fetched political connection, I'm really glad that there are new bands like this -- ones that aren't anything like that dogshit kung-fu metalcore that was stinking up the scene 10 years ago.

And he somehow landed in Metallica.

Incidentally, Overkill has been steadily cranking out very good thrash in the "plain old thrash" subgenre over the past few years.

I'm not a huge fan of the style usually although it scratches an occasional itch when I feel like putting an elbow into somebody. But Exodus's Tempo of the Damned was one that I actually went back and listened to repeatedly. There's just an unusual density of interesting riffs and melodies and catchy bits on that album without ever leaving the rather restrictive thrash framework.

I like this, but I can't help but think that the setup is kinda cribbed from this NSK video.

And that video in turn reminds me of this Ugly Duckling video (note: not particularly thrashy), in the general "our guys have to step up to save the day from those other guys" storyline.

One of the best releases from last year. Short, punchy, brutal and magnificent.

Could be. Or maybe he just wished he had some goddamn milk.
