It's uncanny how good this is.

It sounds kind of like how some songs sample a little bit of radio DJ chatter, with that crackly static - except it can keep that vibe going indefinitely without repeating.

This is a whole mood. Love it!

I notice that the ATC feed from JFK comes through with stereo separation. Others I've tried (KORD, KDCA, KLGA, KBOS) seem to be coming straight down the center channel (which isn't as good, IMO).

Wait: KSFO also has L/R separation. Anyone know if there's a way to know which airports will have it?

Is that OP music really what the term hip hop's being used to describe these days? I'd have called it chill-out music, or maybe even ambient, but I'm far too old to know for sure. Terms like these shift their meaning all the time, so I'm genuinely curious.

It's not that this lofi is specifically hip hop, it's more that "lofi hip hop" describes the sound and original source. "Lofi" tends to be understood as a shortening of "lofi hip hop". I'm not up on the whole history, but the hip hop part of it comes from how lofi got its roots in hip hop samples. I don't know enough hip hop to tell you how much of popular, mainstream lofi continues to draw from hip hop though

I used to listen to fire department scanners to fall asleep (my dad was a firefighter/ EMT for 38 years) and thought I was weird. Hellooooo goes out to y’all: you’re my people!!

Also check out “Kennedy Steve” on YouTube. The wittiest banter ever. Becomes soothing after you stop chuckling.

Wonder if the NOAA weather forecast stream would sound equally mesmerizing?

I've been flipping to random airports and am pleased to report that I found one with a lady talking! I don't know if it was luck of the draw, but at first it seemed to be entirely dudes.
