"My brother and I were directly descended from Chaucer. (There’s no non-dick way to say that, is there?)"

"Three years ago, on my first trip to England, I visited the Tower of London with my friends Tony and Emily. When I got home and uploaded my pictures, I found this strange blur of light on this photo taken outside the room that housed all the torture implements at the Tower... I told Antonia about my weird photo from 2007, and how I wanted to take another picture in the same place when we went, just for fun... [Back at the tower, I] took another shot of Esme on the walkway. And when I looked at it on my camera after, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. Now don’t laugh at me, but do you see a sort of smudge to the center and right? Like a smudge made of light?... It made my heart stop for a second. I’m clearly starting to see spooky stuff in places where there is nothing spooky to see."
but do you see a sort of smudge to the center and right?
Next to the ghost, you mean?

I have images turned off in my browser by default and upon reading the post and viewing the only hyper linked image I was like, "What's all this woo woo bullshit?"
Then I turned the images on and I lol'd.

I know that things like this are ridiculously cheap shots, and that they shouldn't be anywhere near as funny as I think they are, but...damn. Each time I see something like this, I just start cracking up and can't stop.
Ooooooh, spooooooky!
(For example, I can't stop watching this Youtube video...)

The odd effects in photos 5,9,10,12,13 and 17 could be caused by floating dust being illuminated by the camera flash, though I agree it is somewhat spooky looking.

On funny alone, it's not quite there.
With funny and cute combined, this is an excellent FPP.

It's like the exact opposite of those shock Web pranks where something nasty and noisy leaps out at you after you have been instructed to pay close attention.
What are those sites called again? Oh yes. 4Chan.

Sheesh, people -- it's just dust in the air and flying insects, paredolia and all that. Just 'cause it looks like somebody in cowboy boots wearing a bedsheet doesn't mean that it's actually what's there.

I also took this shot, and it wasn’t until I saw it in the larger size that I saw that woman in the blue jacket in the background. It made my heart stop for a second. I’m clearly starting to see spooky stuff in places where there is nothing spooky to see.
I must admit, I chuckled at this one.

I actually saw a face in the tarp, second to left beam, next to the staple third from the bottom.
