Is that when they only wore khakis and rugby shirts?

Is the goofy accent supposed to signal something or is it just goofy?

I'd never heard the word "chundered" before...I think I'll use it.

This is surprisingly accurate.

I fondly remember my own gap year. But not with that accent.

The spiritual ancestor of this retread meme.

(On listening, that's the version that has "Where women blow and men thunder" in the verse, where it originally had "men chunder". It's chunder in the fade-out, though, but I'd thought I'd got the original. Apols.)

Are there really posh accents like this? Is he doing a good job imitating them?

No, he's doing a terrible job imitating them.

(I've known enough English upper class twits to know how it should sound)

I've never heard anybody speak like that except as an imitation of the accent, so I wouldn't know. His seems a bit too put on though.

At the risk of missing some sort of meta joke: It is taking the piss. It's not actually attempting an accurate representation of the accent.

No, there's an excessive stereotype of the accent which he isn't hitting.

This is how I learned it

I would say that he nailed the accent, but that's just because I'm so socially awah?

I'd never heard the word "chundered" before...

I first heard it in this song and that version helpfully explains the term in the intro. Also introduced me to the term "technicolor yawn".

I'm surprised this hasn't been here before. It's been around long enough for the maker to get a book deal, and then that book to get remaindered.

(I did do a little lol at 'sloaney planet'.)

That was great. It just goes to show that too much of the old naughty salt will result in a frozen vomcano. Although I think we knew that already, didn't we Quentin?

Didn't we just go through this recently?

We did. And I believe the consensus was that you need rich parents in order to do a non-working gap year. And by "consensus" I mean "my opinion".
