God hates set theory? Tax dollars in 12 states and the District of Columbia now fund religious schools that use unusual religiously-based curriculum

State tax dollars now fund religious schools that teach creationism but not set theory, and call Evolution a lie. Many hundreds, if not thousands, of these schools use Protestant fundamentalist textbooks that teach not only creationism, but also a religious supremacist worldview. They offer a shocking spin on politics, history and human rights. In 12 states and the District of Columbia, almost 200,000 students attend private schools with at least part of their tuition paid with public funds. The money is taken from public school budgets to fund vouchers or by diverting state tax revenues to tuition grants through corporate tax credit programs.

This post was deleted for the following reason: single link alternet post on supertouchy topic with pretty editorial framing is a bad fit for MeFi. Agree, this is lousy news. Next step: does that mean it's a good post for MeFi and is this the way to write that post? -- jessamyn

Sure, tax money can pay for these things. As long as that tax money comes from churches.
