The Putnam County Republican Party headquarters in Cookeville, TN has a new $5,000 wall mural. Some folks, apparently don't appreciate the artwork. County chairman Curtis Shinsky; ""I just think this is people who have it in for us."

Do you know who else had a Hitler moustache?

That sounds right likely.

Anyway, their website is much worse than the vandalism.

Jesus. Someone defaced that lovely painting of a Hitler mustache with some horrible picture of Ronald Reagan!

Wait, didn't he say, "By outlawing Solidarity, a free trade organization to which an overwhelming majority of Polish workers and farmers belong, they have made it clear that they never had any intention of restoring one of the most elemental human rights—the right to belong to a free trade union. "

A trade union? What kind of socialist nonsense is that?

Forget about this socialist Reagan.

Maybe it's a Charlie Chaplin mustache. I think it works on him.

QFT, their rightmost menu link is for 'clip art' (shivers)

Honestly, the thing that really struck me was that they bought a cover coat to deal with graffiti, they paid through the nose for it, so they *knew* it was a possibility.

And then they didn't get around to it. And it happened. But now it's conspiracy, not "dumb kids with spray paint".

The Republican party purchased a special graffiti proof paint to put over the mural. They just have not had time to apply the $200 a gallon paint to the artwork.
Something about this note is hilarious to me. The spent all their money on Defense but didn't have the foresight or initiative to do the actual work.

Speaking of douchebaggery, how out in looney-land do you have to be to name your daughter Reagan? This seems to be fairly common among the god and guns crowd, or at least more common than you'd expect it to happen, which is to say never.

I dunno. Imagine if someone spray painted water melons and chicken on a mural of Obama? Yeah.

EDIT: I swear I didn't know about this until now.

So, Reagan lovers hate political speech?

Better than Goneril. Or Captain Howdy, for that matter.

What? Reagan (although usually spelled "Regan") is a fairly common girls' name.

...he said before checking the statistics and realizing it hella climbed the ranks started in the late 1980s. Sigh. It's still a pretty name.

Tell that to Shakespeare.

I hate how people think this is someone "comparing Reagan to Hitler". It's not a comparison that's being made. It's a spray-painted mustache; a quick and easy expression of the vandal's dislike of Reagan. And it's kinda funny to see. I'm not sure why people need to take it so literally.

They should call Mr. Gorbachev in to tear down that wall.

Honestly, I wouldn't even necessarily make that leap. I mean, sure, it's possible, maybe even likely, but when you paint a giant face on a wall, somebody is going to paint either a Hitler mustache or a penis on it, no matter who it is.

(To be clear, I was talking specifically about the name with an "a" in it, clearly intended as a homage to America's Greatest President Ever Ever.)
