Biggest Grossing Film Ever?

Records are starting to be set. OK... so far it is only the ninth-highest overseas opening ever
Can Joss Whedon edge out James Cameron's Avatar and Titanic, the two top worldwide box office gross record holders? I think he will, he has the touch. The Avengers will appeal to a wide range as it is not only set to be a cult classic, but is smart (historical hat tips throughout), very contemporary feel and something for everyone, even grandma... Mel Brooks meets Paul Morrissey. Loki (Tom Hiddleston) owes a debt to Udo Kier (SLYT) as Dr Frankensein in Flesh for Frankensein, and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) has more than a touch of Mel Brooks.
Set to premiere in US on Friday.
