I've learned here that if I am heavily armed then I can take that sonafabitch out.

What can I do?

I can support politicians that believe in gun control. I can push for legislation that punishes people who sell murder devices more than those who are carrying a couple of ounces of weed to a party. I can be outspoken about my opposition to private citizens owning guns that fire 45 rounds a minute. I shouldn't have to live in fear because a small minority wants to own objects whose only purpose is to kill humans.

Seemed like a pretty sober piece on a very strange subject.

Interesting, though, how almost all the signs they list of a potential shooter are pretty close to simply someone having a nervous breakdown in general. I don't really see how that information could be put to good use prospectively. "Some guy is obviously really depressed and might also have a drinking problem, so clearly we need to run safety drills."

Alternatively, I can pray, or I can put my head between my legs and kiss my ass goodbye.

Just one more thing we need to be prepared for in this modern age....

Not if your ideological allies adopt a more aggressive stance toward keeping guns out of the hands of the mentally ill, instead of shouting 2nd Amendment at the top of their lungs.

My main takeaway on this is-always think about where you would run and/or hide if trouble came through the door. My previous strategy of "it won't happen here" is not quite as comforting as it once was.
