"No One Has Ever Asked to See My Birth Certificate"

Governor Mitt Romney "joked" tody that no one has ever asked to see his birth certificate. While describing his and his wife's roots in Michigan, where he was campaigning, Romney said, ""No one has ever asked to see my birth certificate," Romney said. "They know that this is the place that we were born and raised." Thereafter he promptly denied that his remarks were a "swipe" at President Obama or that he has any doubts that the President was born in the United States.

This post was deleted for the following reason: There's at least a couple open and active Romney-centric election threads open where this is being discussed. -- cortex

I assume it's a deliberate "gaffe" meant to change the conversation from the way it's been going.

Nobody ever asked to see his ID, or search his bag, while he was walking down the street.

Hey, did you hear that Prince Harry is really a MAN? At least that's what I learned from the news following his visit to Las Vegas.

Oh, and last year a Congressman swam naked in Sea of Galilee!

NEWS!

"No one has ever asked me to pay a poll tax, or refused to pick me up in a taxi." Amazing how the barely-encoded racism of the birthers has been completely and utterly ignored by the media this last, what, 4 years?

Maybe they can be convinced to all settle there and make it an Israel style homeland?

Lets talk about Romney's polygamist ancestry and whether his father was an American citizen, now..

ericb: 7 Birthers Speaking At The Republican Convention.

And they didn't invite Ron Paul to talk, but are showing a Tribute to Ron Paul at the GOP Convention and there's the Gold Standard Committee, which is another nod (or sideways glance) to Ron Paul.

Romney added, "Hey, did you notice how white I am? Seriously, I'm very, very white. You should take that to heart."

Why does Romney still feel compelled to pander to the base?

Flag it and move on. There is very serious shit on the table, for the country, and this just takes our attention away from said serious shit.

Sure, if you're a white guy who isn't aware of or doesn't care about how Romney is racializing this election to pander to the base.
