The end of an era for academic racism

Canadian "race scientist" Jean Philippe Rushton has died at age 68.

Rushton was a psychology professor at Western Ontario University and director of the Pioneer Fund, a non-profit "restoring the Darwinian-Galtonian perspective to the mainstream" which funds many scientists working to prove that there are quantifiable differences in intelligence between human races. Rushton has been widely criticized by the majority of the scientific community for his approach to race, which ignores the biological and cultural underpinnings of observed racial differences. In particular, Rushton was criticized for his book Race, Evolution, and Behavior (large pdf file), which used r/K selection to explain patterns of differences between Whites, Blacks, and East Asians.

Good riddance.

He will still live on as a science DON'T (I encountered him in 3 different intro classes: anthro, bio, psych).
