In memoriam, and awe of their courage

19 of 20 members of a specialized "hotshot" firefighting team were overtaken by the Arizona wildfire today. All were young, prepared, and well-trained. Procedure called for clearing an escape route, and carrying emergency shelters that would allow them to hug the ground while the fire raged past them (!!!), but it is speculated the winds may have shifted suddenly, catching them before they could react.
