Defund libraries, fund prisons instead. Let that son of a bitch go back to Mexico. There’s just so many things they’re doing that I don’t agree with. ... Them junkies and hippies and food stamps [recipients] and all, they use the library to look at drugs and food stamps [on the Internet]. I see them do it.

I'm pretty much betting that the legislator is firmly in the pocket of the prison-industrial complex. I hope he gets his wish and lives to regret it.

According to Houma Today, Toups' son and grandson were arrested in 2009 and charged with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Yes, take out your lack of parenting skills and shallow gene pool on the rest of the parish. Makes perfect sense to me.

This is like a microcosmic crystallization of everything that's ruining this country. Gutting social services and taking that public money to pay private companies to brutalize and oppress people, stopping what little social mobility that exists in its tracks, and predicating policy decisions on an irrational and morally indefensible revanchist campaign of endless immiseration for the the poor and marginalized.
