Homer mystery script deciphered

"Daniele Metilli, an Italian computer engineer and software developer, is the prize winner of a contest to identify the script used for handwritten annotations in a rare 1504 Venice edition of Homer’s Odyssey in Greek, held by the University of Chicago Library." (Previously)

The key was in the works of Jean Coulon de Thévénot (1754-1813).

Plus there's a nice write up by Sig Metilli here (pdf).
