Social Media Feeds Eating Disorders

This article perfectly illustrates the dilemma young girls face as they brave social media.

As someone who's suffered from an eating disorder for about four years now, I can attest to this. Social media (especially Tumblr, where there's a great deal of anonymity and privacy) only exacerbated my issues. As soon as I deleted my account, I saw (and continue to see) a drastic increase in both physical and mental health compared to when I was in the thick of my "prog blog"/"pro-ana"/"pro-mia" days.

Lots of sites have taken to prevent posts of these nature, but it's harder to monitor than you think.

This post was deleted for the following reason: Heya, posts to the front page really need to not have bloggy personal-perspective framing like you've got in the more inside here. Posts should basically be about the link(s), not your opinions/thoughts about them. -- cortex
