However, I'm sure the father is finding it therapeutic. It's not "odd" enough not to be done and perhaps it's even helpful to other members of the family.

Most disturbing thing to me would be that most of the videos have voice-overs from the mother. And she seems happy. posted by XiBe at 3:37 PM on February 21, 2002
Very odd and disturbing, but anyone else wonder about the timing? Do we know when this site came up? Gotta wonder. posted by RunsWithBandageScissors at 5:13 PM on February 21, 2002
"Mrs. Yates had a history of depression after giving birth and had spent time in a hospital for it after the birth of her fourth child. Soon after her fifth child was born last spring, Mrs. Yates spent 12 days in Devereux Hospital outside Houston, where, Mr. Yates believes, she was discharged before she was well enough to leave. ...Mr. Yates believes it all comes down to medical treatment. "If she received the medical treatment that she deserved, then the kids would be alive, and Andrea would be well on her way to recovery and we’d be unknown," he lamented. "
I feel that Russell Yates bears some of the guilt for Andrea Yates' murder of their five children. She was hospitalized after the birth of their fourth child, yet they went ahead and had a fifth child. If he disagreed with her treatment, he should have found another doctor and/or hospital for his wife. posted by Carol Anne at 7:49 AM on February 22, 2002
