Phubbing: The act of snubbing someone in a social setting by looking at your phone instead of paying attention. Stop it.

This post was deleted for the following reason: Eh, we fight about cellphone etiquette too much anyway, but also this seems to be connected to a PR stunt from a few years ago, and keeps resurfacing as an ad campaign; I'm not clear on who's driving the latest round. -- LobsterMitten

"The second experiment, which involved 145 adults, delved deeper into phubbing’s effects, as couples were asked to identify which of the behaviors they’d experienced within their relationships, and then were asked how secure they felt in their relationships, how satisfied they were, and how anxious and/or depressed they felt as a result of their partners’ behaviors."

So no way that establishing the direction of causation could be a problem for that bit of research then...

Hey, you. Are you cheating on your friends with your phone? If so, it’s got a name and, reportedly, serious side effects.

The hell it does.

Also was there a poly partnership included in the 145 people or was some poor bastard phubbing herself?

Yeah, not really sure how good the science is here, and there's some good laughs in the graphic. It's a great message though!

I pity folks who need expensive technology in order to ignore people.

Stop it.

No? No one is entitled to my attention. Especially rude people who try and make conversation with me on public transit, etc.
