Meanwhile in Australia, an awareness campaign aimed at deterring young people from smoking cannabis was launched last week. Erroneously, or perhaps ironically named after a US marijuana supplier, the Stoner Sloth ads were an instant hit (or miss). A few days later, the person who manages the social media account for the national Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) asked the southern hemisphere a question.

Additional parodies include sodium aware stoner sloth, and ex-Prime Minister Tony Abbott determinedly refusing to answer a question-sloth. Even the NSW Premier Mike Baird got in on the act, asking where they got Chewbacca's siblings for the adverts. Baird has neither confirmed nor denied reports that he played the role of the sloth in all the advertisements.

More sloth parodies would be forthcoming but nyyaa yyaanaa nyaya

This post was deleted for the following reason: great collection, but maybe you can move these links pass the salt over here, where the stoner sloth convo is already in progress -- taz
