After over 45 years with the show, "Bob", "Gordon", and "Luis" have been fired from Sesame Street.

Actor Bob McGrath, who plays "Bob" and was one of the only two remaining original members, revealed during a convention in Florida. McGrath, Emilio Delgado (who played “Luis”) and Roscoe Orman (“Gordon”) were all released as part of HBO's retooling of the show; although, strangely, the show is keeping Loretta Long, who's been playing Gordon's wife since the show's inception.

The writing may have been on the wall when Sonia Manzano, who played "Luis'" wife "Maria", left last year; in an interview with the Daily Beast, Manzano revealed that the show's scripts were getting Muppet-heavy and there was simply less for the human actors to do.

The show is still keeping Alan Muraoka as "Alan," the current owner of Mr. Hooper's Store, and Chris Robinson as "Chris", one of "Gordon's" nephew's working at Mr. Hoopers' part time.

As of this writing, Elmo and Grover have not offered comment.

This post was deleted for the following reason: With the AV Club article this ends up being pretty fightbaity "with us or against us" stuff, and I'm gonna say we don't need a fight about Sesame Street today. -- LobsterMitten

Is there a less snarky article that could be used for the main link in this FPP? There's real information happening here, but reading that left me feeling like I need a shower.

You would think they'd be rent controlled.

Yeah, I'm not feeling the EE-vil new corporate Sesame Street hate that the author is either. Forty-five years on a kids show is a pretty darn good run, Bob, but we're wanting to try some new things at this point. Oh, and you weren't even the original Gordon, "Gordon".
