45 Foot Steel Woman to Stand At The National Mall Sculpture originally created for Burning man will be recreated to create a discussion about violence against women.

Hmmmm, nope. I have to disagree. There's plenty of right wing, conservative, fundamentalist men (and women) who want to "protect" ladies so much they are working hard right now to make it so we won't ever again be able to work outside the home or decide if we want to give birth or not. What is not a priority in our culture is punishing men for their violence against women and girls. And, I think it's pretty hard to believe a 45' statue of a naked woman is supposedly 'humanizing' the female form, not sexualizing women. But maybe that's just me. I'd be way more excited about a 45' statue of any of the many, many actual women who made real accomplishments to this country in either science, arts and humanities, politics, social justice, racial justice, workers rights, etc, etc. The world doesn't need another sculpture of a naked, anonymous female void.
Also, there's zero chance the NPS approves this. Even Leslie Knope wouldn't approve this.....

I can't figure out whether this is maddeningly naive or touchingly optimistic. I'm afraid I lean toward the former.
