Sergeant Peppers is almost a great album

Last year, Stephen Colbert teamed up with 'the most influential minds in the prized 6 - 8 demographic' to brainstorm ideas for the perfect movie. ("Critics called it the most restrained performance of John Malkovich's career.") This year, Stephen's reassembled his creative team to come up with an idea for the best television show ever.

Kid is totally right about Rubber Soul though.

Fair, but I always listen to Rubber Soul and Revolver together anyway. I've had a playlist since my first MP3 player called "Rubber Revolver"

Adorbs! As a former kid who knew inexplicable amounts about the Beatles, I’m glad they still exist. Other parents will no doubt want advice from Josh’s parents as to how they are managing to raise him 40 years ago.

When I walk my granddaughter in her stroller, I whistle Beatles tunes.

"They meet somewhere in Florida, but in a dark alleyway!"

We did a unit on The Beatles in general music class, but not until Grade 6.

I remember there were kids completely terrorized by "A Day In The Life" (the crescendo part). That seems kind of quaint now!

You mean, like, at the same time?

I wish my son knew and appreciated the work of Jeff Daniels and Brooke Shields. Say what you will about Jason Segal, he does a pretty good Jeff Daniels.

George said it all should've been one double album anyway.

Yeah, that was me in Grade 6 general music class.

I had a truly horrific day filled with bad news.

We live in an unspeakably awful time. I cherish the fact that Stephen Colbert is the biggest star on late night TV, and can get a group of kids to write, and cast, a TV show and then gather the actors they name to film their story. So much heart. In the words of Samwise Gangee, while Frodo is despondent and about to give up, “There’s some good in this world and it’s worth fighting for.”

Sergeant Pepper is almost a great album. Speak the truth, kid. Rubber Soul is a solid choice for a six year old. You’ll dabble in the White Album in high school or college and one day you’ll settle on Revolver like the rest of us right thinking wise and introspective adults.

The only things wrong with SP are "She's Leaving Home" (schmaltzy) and "When I'm 64" (corny). If McCartney had already written "Lonely Old People", he probably would have tried to put it on Side 2.

Rubber Soul is a solid choice when entering your Beatles phase for a first idea of their best album.

Everyone does the Beatles at their own pace. For me it was Junior High. Rubber Soul was my favorite for a long time.

He'll move into TMBG next. I would bet on it.

When the Beatles "happened", I was 10-15 years old, and my parents were still 'watching over' my media choices. I acquired both Revolver and Rubber Soul on vinyl but was reluctant to go full-Sgt.-Pepper, an oversight made up for when I got into doing cassettes for music.

I was impressed with the almost-all-star cast Colbert acquired for the Strangest/Golden teaser. But John Oliver as Beatle Paul and not John?!?
