Thanks, clavdivs, that was my sort of jam interesting. There's a discussion towards the end about the value of cluttering your head with 20thC Oscar winners or the magnificence of beard of Civil War Generals [I vote for Samuel Sprigs "fluffier" Carroll over Ambrose "sideburn" Burnside] -vs- knowing where to look it up. The advantage of having a lot of different facts in your head is that it gives the chance of jostling against facts from other dimensions - with synergistic / creative benefit.
