Oh hey, Randall Munroe did a talk about "What If? 2" a couple months ago, I bet that's fun!

It'd be really interesting to analyze the overlaps and gaps between these talks and TED talks. Seems like very similar vibes but I bet the differences would be telling in some way.

And yes, Randall Munroe is a very funny and engaging speaker. There's a talk for the first What If as well.

I helped organize a few of these back when I was at Google. It started out as Author@Google but evolved as others (scientists, musicians, chefs, etc.) were added. I haven't watched one in a while but the early ones were much more like book readings or TV interviews than TED talks.

The invitee would usually stick around after, so I got to meet people like Salmon Rushdie, Mary Roach, and Lewis Lapham. It was one of the great perks of working there that didn't get much press.

Well, to start with, I don't believe Jesse Ventura ever gave a TED Talk.

This predates these slickly produced videos but Leslie Jordan at Google some 15 years ago was nice.

Seeing Vic Gundotra on stage with Conan O'Brien here was unwelcome.

Recent talk by Sean Carroll going into the math of general relativity. Earlier one about the many worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics.
