Mexico appears headed to elect its first woman president.

The polls point to a historical first: Claudia Sheinbaum, currently the frontrunner, could become the country’s first Jewish and female president. The way things stand now, Mexico is headed to elect its first woman president next year. The two leading candidates in the polls for the 2024 election are Claudia Sheinbaum, Mexico City’s former mayor, and Xóchitl Gálvez, a senator representing the center-right opposition bloc.
Quite a story, both front-runners are women. From what I've read, both are powerhouses, they didn't get to where they are by luck. Whoever wins, I wish them good luck;being the president of a rough and tumble lawless country cannot be an easy job.

"Lawless" Mexico looking like it's going to elect a Jewish female leftist president.
"Civilized" US looking like it could elect a twice-impeached wannabe-mobster fascist who can't speak coherently, would rather play golf than do his damn job, currently facing 91 felony charges and a variety of civil suits (many of which are from police officers)...

Thank you for this post. I am ashamed that I had no idea, and surprised that my handful of go-to sites did not make me aware of this. Hoping to get past the dunking (we had the right amount - the mefite stepped on a rake but probably twigged) and learn more.
