"The sacred institution of marriage should not be redefined by a few activist judges," said the President who was appointed by five activist Supreme Court Justices.

The man who, between the two major candidates in 2000, got the fewer amount of votes went on to affirm that "all Americans have a right to be heard in this debate."

Actually I wanted to bring up the irony inherent in the specific statements that were made by the President today. I think it's interesting that he should use the very expressions he used.

From Daily Kos today:
Bush says:
"Fifty years ago today, nine judges announced that they had looked at the Constitution and saw no justification for the segregation and humiliation of an entire race," Bush said at the opening of a national historic site at Monroe Elementary, a former all-black school in the heartland of the school desegregation effort."

Freakin' activist judges!

Seriously, what this teaches us is that judges exist for a reason -- to protect us from the tyranny of the majority. If Bush was president 50 years ago, he'd be railing against those nine Justices the way he and his allies have railed against the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.

This wouldn't be one of those posts with an agenda that I've heard so much about, would it?

What's ironic is that he is specifically calling on Congress to make a law respecting the establishment of religion, and even using the term "sacred" while doing it. I mean, fuck, could somebody read the Constitution to this guy?

The sanctity of marriage is being undermined EVERYWHERE. Just to show K5 diaries are not yet completely dead...
