Some well-stated thoughts on the previous discussion... I think this pretty well covers how most atheists feel on the issue. Note that it isn't intended as antagonistic towards religion, but wisely advocates that government should be neither hostile nor embracing of religion.
If Jefferson could be a strong advocate of separation of church and state, yet have an ardent admiration for Jesus, why is it so difficult a concept for so many to accept today?
And finally, an interesting organization for servicemen and women like me: MAAF.
