Best for Israel

Best For Israel. A concerted effort to support the only democratic state in the Middle East, done webwise. My opinion: their premise's are incorrect, but I admire the effort. Agree? Disagree? We might as well indoctrinate them well into the vagaries of the Internet.

This post was deleted for the following reason: wonderful discussion. Best for metafilter

"President Bush is leading with moral clarity in the fight against terror around the world."

You lost me on the first sentence.
The world will be a better place when we evolve away from what passes for moral clarity as demonstrated by this administration.

And learn to properly pronounce "Allah Ahkbar", like they do in France.

Well, I can see this is going to be intelligent, civil and productive, just like every other I/P thread.

Can I just clear something up... by "only democratic state in the Middle East" do people really mean "only republic in the Middle East"?

Hell that doesn't work either, does it? I don't get it, then.

The guy who made the website also did one for a Political Action Committee that hosted an event/fundraiser for Rick Santorum.

So, that means that this website is two degrees away from Santorum, who was in K Street, which was produced by George Clooney, who was in the The Thin Red Line with Sean Penn who was in Mystic River with Kevin Bacon.

I heard Santorum is the answer to this little blind item.

And Bush is only Best for Israel if you want the apocalypse to happen in our lifetimes. Most of us Jews will not be voting Bush/Cheney, no matter how hard this guy tries. ...most Jews are well to Bush's left on economics, abortion, gay marriage, social programs, public education and the separation of church and state. Even the one issue where the administration sides with most Jewish voters - support of Israel - is couched in an evangelical belief of Armageddon that requires complete Jewish control of the Holy Land as a precursor to a Second Coming in which Jews would convert or die. Kerry's track record lets those single-issue voters support Israel without forming an unholy alliance with the likes of Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and Ralph Reed.
For all the GOP hype, there's no hard evidence yet of success in swinging the Jewish vote. As Democratic strategist Steve Rabinowitz told the Philadelphia Inquirer, the attempt to convert Jewish voters is a long-running story that never seems to play out...

Is this the Jeff Stiers of this site? Hmmm, makes sense--a climate change skeptic, worked for Giuliani, is voting for Bush.

Well gee, Generic, you're made up word made the dictionary. Good for you. Still nothing better to say than "faith sucks"

Graventy, glad you got that right. Now answer me this, how does the identity of the web person have anything to do with the content of the site?

The internet was invented to keep morons occupied with endless Israel/Palestine flamewars while the Vogons kidnap us one by one and implant us with mind-control chips.

Also, I'm with Pretty_Generic on this one:
Faith (as in blindly accepting an idea without questioning it) sucks.

I agree with you that a person who creates a site is not responsible for its resulting content, in most instances.

However, there is a connection between the pro-Bush Best of Isreal site that claims "BestforIsrael.org is not affiliated with any campaign or political party," and another website of similar if not indentical politics (ie. pro-Isreal, pro-conservative politician), the YJLPAC. The YJLPAC has an elephant for an icon, a neat graphic touch I must say sincerely, which is a party identifier. Both of these sites were created by you. You are listed as the webmaster for the second. While I personally believe that one can create a website and be removed from its beliefs, I do not think that one cannot continually administer a website and not be entirely divided from its beliefs.

And good god do I want to stay out of an Israel/Palestine flamewar.

A person who creates an advocacy site for one issue or another is certainly responsible for it. Finding out who that person is, since there's basically no info about him on the site (a red-flag-raising thing in itself, as reputable sites put more info about their creators online) is expected.
posted by amberglow at 9:39 PM on August 4, 2004

People, for pity's fuckin' sake, can't you deal with the issues instead of your own egos? This is folk using the web to foster an idea. Isn't that what it's supposed to be about? Good idea, bad idea? Deal with the fucking idea ... would you please?
