Gene Kelly busts a groove to sell VWs in the UK. (quicktime) The dead celebrity endorsement is so popular because they are cheaper than the living and sell more stuff. In the UK you can now get living celebs to come to your house dinner although the calibre of the celebs is a bit poorer than a CGI Gene.

The dancer in that VW commercial is David "Elsewhere" Bernal. Jason Kottke talked to him about it shortly after the ad's debut.
