I'll be in my bunk

I'm torn, here. On the one hand, it's probably not entirely cool to post a single link to a message board, regardless of the content. On the other hand, as at least one old thread has shown, a message board link containing something suitably shiny might well go over nicely. Tough choice.

This post was deleted for the following reason: site doesn't work

I love Firefly. It's just so ... REAL, in a way that a lot of other big-name Science Fiction isn't. The whole lack of sound effects when the camera is in space, the bilingual 'verse, the whole western in space feel. So, this is probably very good new for fans like me.

I'd vote for not worth posting. One link, of one person's anecdote about a movie that may come out sooner than September 30th?

Some background would have been nice.

Um, the linkdosen't work for me. :( What's it say? A change in the movie release date? If the link works, I'd vote for posting it. Better than the same old same old we've got going today.

the link doesn't work for me either--some error message comes up.

I can't open the link. If it's really in the same league as Superman Is a Dick, though, I'm interested.

I vote "not entirely cool" indeed.

Tough choice? No. No context and a broken link. Wheee!

Just to inject some content here... the substance of the linked post is that response to preview screenings and other market testing has been off the charts. So, they're planning a wide release for Serenity before September.

From the posting:
Okay. . .so I called the Universal rep this afternoon, just sort of a "Hi. . .just wanted to see if you guys were in a position to give me hard confirmation on Serenity showing at Mission Valley."

This is cool #1. . .he said, "I think we can do that. . .I'm just not sure when. They're being a little weird..." and I realize he thinks I'm talking about an ADVANCE screening. This is cool b/c he was actually in the 'advance screening' state of mind.

So. . .I reassure him that the only date I'm working on with him is September 30th. . .that I realize he's got tons on his plate and I don't want to ask for anything uber-special. . .just want to make the nationwide release something of memory.

THEN he tells me. . ."Oh. . .you guys probably won't even have to wait until September 30th anymore. Our test markets and advance screenings are off the charts. . .we had no idea. . .when you said, 'Big following', I didn't realize how big. . ."

The internet has lots of interesting sites that actually do load up, maybe one of those would make for a better FPP?

By the way, why in the hell did you post an FPP asking if you should post an FPP? Are you unaware that MetaTalk exists and is the proper venue for these sorts of stupid questions?

I could only wish this were true. The only thing better would be to find out that in addition to Serenity coming sooner, Fox realized what fucktards they are and are picking up the series for another 10 years.

[sighs wistfully]

Worked okay for me, they may be recovering from the initial rush.

This is SUPER news... Firefly was SO cool. So on the one hand, I'm really glad you posted this. On the other hand, there's a lot of people here who don't care.

I probably wouldn't have posted it, but I'm sure glad you did. I get the benefit, and you take the heat. Perfect! :)

This would be good news; I would have waited for an official announcement of a revised release date before posting it here, though.

And I would have expected even that post to be mocked by the very intellegent, sophisticated Metafilter members who do not even own televisions. Because this is, in fact, something that you would need a television to know about.

Firefly was pretty good for young adult programming, if you hadn't already been through the Joss Wheedon playbook ten thousand times.
